Fall Bucket List for 2022 (and 417 locals)

6 minute read

Looking for fun this fall season, but stumped on where to find it? Look no further - Lilac Market's Bucket List for 2022 is ready to go for you and the whole family!

'Tis the season (one of our favorites, actually) of sweaters, bonfires and homemade baked treats. Every community has something to offer, including here in our local 417 area! From trick-or-treating to tail-gating, we've put together this magical list of fun activities that's perfect for all ages before the last leaf falls.

If you aren't starting a fall bucket list with the best symbol of Americana, is it even a list? Apple picking is certainly the most delicious way to get outdoors in the autumn season. Different varieties make for loads of fun colors and flavors, and it can even turn into more fun like local Apple Butter Festivals.

417 Locals: Check out Sunshine Valley Farms in Rogersville, where their many varieties of apples and long season of picking from September through November is perfect for a monthly must-do.

We love when the beauty of nature can be brought home! Make a plan for a family fall hike at the peak of the color changing season, and collect as many perfect leave specimens as you like. Once they're home, grab your glue gun and a wood embroidery hoop and make this lovely wreath to celebrate the day!

417 Locals: If you want incredible views for your leaf hunt, check out the Greater Ozarks Audubon Trail at Lake Springfield Park, where a short climb will get you an incredible bluff view of Lake Springfield.

This time of year gives us the warm and fuzzies - and that little buzz of competition. With America's favorite sport season in full swing, tailgating is a popular way to enjoy the best that game day has to offer: friends, food and football! Don't forget to color coordinate with your favorite team (or design your own custom headband to show the most unique support!).

417 Locals: Don't miss out on your Missouri State Bears, who play a home game every other weekend through mid-November. Find all the tailgating fun in BearFest Village before the game starts at Plaster Stadium!

What's fall without our favorite gourd? Pumpkins are a seasonal staple, and there's no better way to appreciate them than exploring a local pumpkin patch! Pick one to take home and add to your family of ghoulish porch-gourds by making them into an awesome Jack-O-Lantern.

417 Locals: For a one-stop-shop for the best pumpkins in town and more fun than you can shake a broomstick at, check out the Campbell's Maze Daze to pick your own pumpkin, visit a corn maze, and much more.

The spookiest activities are usually the most fun. Any excuse to dress up as your favorite character is a good one, but exploring the neighborhoods with loads of Halloween decor makes it all the better. Find a local neighborhood that really puts on a show while you go door-knocking!

417 Locals: The Phelps Grove area takes Halloween to a whole new level and is perfect for kids. Check out the amazing Phelps Grove Park, which is a popular spot year-round.

If sitting around the pleasant glow of a fire with a roasting marshmallow and cup of hot cider is your jam, hosting a bonfire is the ideal activity! Cooler evenings make it even better to cozy up under a blanket, and with the time change, can keep the festivities going even after the sun goes down.

417 Locals: Looking for a beautiful spot for your bonfire? Rutledge-Wilson Farm offers access to their amazing property, where you can reserve the use of their fire pits. They'll even light it and provide the wood to keep it going!

Here's one you may never have thought you'd enjoy! This community tradition is alive and well, typically complete with live music and group lessons from a professional. There's no way you and your partner won't smile when you join in on this one!

417 Locals: If you're wanting the same fun in the heart of the Ozarks, head to Branson at Sycamore Creek & Family Ranch to learn how to swing your partner round and round weekly throughout the fall season.

One of our personal favorites, hayrides are definitely a requirement for our fall bucket list. Snuggling up under a blanket with a cup of cider while you gently roll through the scenic outdoors (maybe even by the light of a full moon) is a must, so grab your flannel and friends and join the ride!

417 Locals: Once again hitting our list, Campbell's Maze Daze offers hayrides during it's autumn events, so make sure to hop on one while you're there for the pumpkin patch!

Fall craft fairs are in full swing, and they make the perfect family outing! Just like our headbands, handmade gifts are near and dear to us. You won't regret bundling up, sipping apple cider, and admiring the handiwork of talented folks in your community. It's never too early to start tucking away little gifts for Christmas, so prepare to pick up a few sentimental items for you and your friends!

417 Locals: Your favorite headband company (that's us!) will be attending both the War Eagle Craft Fair in War Eagle, Arkansas as well as the Branson Market Days in Branson, Missouri this year! Both fairs are just a day trip from the Springfield area, so make sure to mark yourselves as attending at our events for War Eagle Craft Fair and Branson Market Days on Facebook!
