But you may not know where we started and who we are. Keep reading to find out more about the story of Lilac Market!

Lilac Market Headbands started as one woman on a mission. In 2018 Kelsey Kivett, founder and owner, was tired of buying expensive headbands that didn't meet her standards of being able to stay put all day, look cute and being actually comfortable, whether she was working her medical job or sweating through a CrossFit workout. So she created a new standard! Kelsey began with buying a sewing machine and making headbands for herself at her bedside table (hint: Kelsey did NOT know how to sew before!).

While researching the design of the headbands, Kelsey wanted a headband that fit to her, something that other headbands never did. Along with the special seam, she found the perfect fabric blend that allowed for the headbands to stretch to her unique shape as she wore them without falling off. That non-slip, comfortable wear gives Lilac Market its edge over the competition as it adjusts to your individual size without you needing to do a thing!

Our customers truly do it all! Believe it or not, we are actually a micro business that has recently grown into a small business! With less than 15 employees, our staff sews each and every headband in our manufacturing office in Springfield, MO. From the design to manufacturing to distribution, every order is prepared by the hands of real people with love at our main hub. And there's no AI here: marketing and customer service is also done by long-time employees of LMH. We even have a few formerly-Springfield local employees who work remotely!

Your headband can be worn 3 different ways! You can wear the twist knot in the center, to the side, or to the back. Check out our blog post by clicking here to see our tutorial on ways to wear!

Your headband can stretch to your fit! While our headbands are designed to fit to you as you wear them, the headbands are initially a snug fit. You can also speed up that fit-to-you process by giving the headband a little tug by hand. Just pull the band wide briefly (don't worry, you won't break the seam) and try it back on. You can repeat that process until it feels just right.

Your headband is washable! Care instructions are super simple, since our colors won't bleed or fade: after a couple of full days of wear, put your headband in a delicates bag, wash normally and hang dry. The band will cinch back to be like-new!
