The Twisted Low Ponytail

Step 1: Start by gathering your hair into a low ponytail at the nape of your neck.

Step 2: Divide the ponytail into two equal sections.

Step 3: Take both equal sections and individually twist them both in the same direction, for example, both twisting toward your right ear.

Step 4: Cross the twisted sections over each other in the opposite direction, for example crossing toward your left ear.

Step 5: Continue to wrap the twisted sections by crossing over to the left, or the opposite of the way the sections are twisted all the way to the end of the ponytail.

Step 6: Secure the twisted ponytail with a hair tie and wrap a small strand of hair around the hair tie to conceal it.

Step 7: Bonus - instead of wrapping hair around the bottom tie, grab a red, white and blue streamer and wrap it around the hair tye.

The Fishtail Braid Updo:

Step 1: Start by taking a small section of hair from above your left ear and divide it into two equal parts.

Step 2: Cross a small strand of hair from the outer edge of the left section over to join the right section.

Step 3: Repeat the previous step on the right side, crossing a small strand of hair from the outer edge over to join the left section.

Step 4: Continue alternating sides, crossing small strands of hair from the outer edges until you reach the end of the section.

Step 5: Secure the fishtail braid with a small elastic band.

Step 6: Repeat steps 1-5 on the right side of your head to create a second fishtail braid.

Step 7: Pull the two fishtail braids across the top of your head like a headband.

Step 8: Secure the ends of the braids behind your opposite ear with bobby pins.

Step 9: Bonus - Secure the ends underneath a Lilac Market Headband to hold the braids in place.

The Starry Bun:

Step 1: Gather your hair into a high ponytail at the crown of your head and secure it with a hair tie.

Step 2: Divide the ponytail into two sections.

Step 3: Twist each section tightly until they coil around each other to form a twisted bun.

Step 4: Secure the twisted bun with bobby pins, making sure it feels secure and doesn't sag.

Step 5: Using hairpins, strategically place star-shaped hair accessories or bobby pins with star designs around the bun.

Step 6: Bonus - Place little plastic stars or decorative sparklers into the bun.

With these quick and easy Independence Day hairstyle tutorials, you can effortlessly achieve a patriotic and stylish look, even at the last minute to complement your big July 4th celebrations!
