The pool party is in full swing, the fireworks are getting lit, and you need to make sure you're ready when the guests arrive for the fun (and the food). But how do you impress without the stress?
If you're setting the table with all the right snacks, you want them to look good enough to eat for the Independence Day festivities. That's why we've come up the winning food combos that will make everyone light up with delight when they see and taste your 4th of July treats! Here's our favorites for the prettiest plate on the block.
CORN ON THE COB (ON A STICK)
Not only is corn versatile, it has a huge range a colors. But it's classic golden yellow has become a staple at American barbecues and pool parties, and goes perfect in dips, salads, or straight from the grill. Give it some of that beautiful char by leaving them directly over a flame, then sprinkle with smoked paprika, cotija cheese and cilantro for a bright plate that can't be beat.
WATERMELON BALLS
You can't have a holiday party without a big watermelon (just ask Baby! Dirty Dancing?... anyone?...). Watermelons create lovely light flavor, and are so crisp that they can be added to most any food or beverage. You can use the rind as a center piece and scoop out the melon using a kitchen baller to make the perfect hands-free snack! The perfect way to keep everyone cool this summer.
SHRIMP CEVICHE
This might be the perfect dish when you need something light and flavorful. Hints of seafood are complimented with chopped red onions, avocado, tomatoes, corn and literally anything else that you'd like. You can eat it with chips or straight from the bowl, or even as a loaded shrimp cocktail for giant prawns. Spritz with lime and you're set!
NACHO TABLE
Imagine if you took all the things you love about a charcuterie board and spread them on a table. Now... imagine it with nacho ingredients instead. Yes, it's possible and YES, it is that easy! The trick: put layers of cling plastic wrap across the table before assembling the food! Works great for crowds and makes a presentation we bet your friends have never seen before.
PINEAPPLE WHIP
If you aren't from the Midwest (or been to Disney), you might not be familiar with one of our favorite summertime staples. Pineapple whip is just a few ingredients: frozen pineapple, lime, sweetener, and your choice of cream, nut milk or even ice cream! Throw it in a blender and serve in a hollowed out pineapple, you'll be totally ready for the tiki torhces to be lit poolside as the fireworks finale begins.
