When it comes to maintaining good mental health, there are some tried-and-true methods that most people are aware of. However, there are also some less common tips that go beyond the typical advice that can help you take care of your mind and emotions! Here are a few to consider trying for Mental Health Awareness month:

Laughter yoga is a unique form of yoga that involves laughing for no reason. The theory is that laughter can be therapeutic and release tension. Look for a laughter yoga class in your area, or try it on your own by watching a video online.

While it might not sound enjoyable, taking a cold shower can actually be beneficial for your mental health! Cold showers can improve circulation and stimulate the release of endorphins, which can help improve your mood.

Spending time in nature has been shown to reduce stress and improve mental health. Even just a few minutes outside can make a difference. Take a walk in the park, sit by a lake or hike in the woods to reap the benefits. Even a few minutes in the sun and barefoot on the ground has been shown to boost your mood.

This may sound strange, but writing with your non-dominant hand can help stimulate new neural pathways in your brain. This can help you think differently and approach problems in a new way, which can be good for mental health. For even more fun, try painting, drawing or even brushing your teeth with your "other" hand!

In today's world, we're constantly bombarded with technology and screens. Taking a break from technology can help reduce stress and improve mental health. Consider taking a day (or even just a few hours) away from screens and technology to give your mind a break.

By trying some of these less common tips, you may find new ways to support your mental health and well-being. Experiment with what works for you, and remember that taking care of your mental health is an ongoing process. Share this blog with friends to spread awareness!
