We all know how important self care is, but it’s truly essential before the holiday madness sets in.
You know you can't fill from an empty cup, and this list of our favorite self care ideas will inspire you when you just need to take some time to yourself! Try one every day for the next week, or do a few of them at once to have a total day to pamper mind and body.
Here at Lilac Market Headbands, our favorite way to reduce stress is moving our bodies to get strong. We started our business on the back (or box) of CrossFit, but a lot of our customers are serious runners, Peloton pushers, yoga masters and gym rats. No matter how you choose to move your body, we think there’s no self care quite like getting your blood pumping and lungs breathing.
There’s a ton of options for personal development out there. While it’s tempting to choose a topic that will help you make money or improve your relationship, reading or listening to something that helps you see yourself as the amazing person you are will have a positive impact on everything else.
We all have it. The drawer, shelf, bin, tabletop. It’s the catch-all that haunts you every time you walk by it. Set a timer for 15 minutes and with no distractions, go to town on cleaning it up. Once the timer is up, no matter how much you've finished, stop. You’ll sleep better tonight knowing you’ve made headway.
Putting your phone on airplane mode or face down so you can’t see the screen doesn’t have nearly the same affect as fully powering it down. You’ve probably heard of the psychological changes that phones can make to our brains. The only way to change the wiring is to totally unplug. Plus, it’s actually good to keep your phone up to date, too.
On another psychological note, hitting the hay with a well-made bed actually makes you want to get into bed. And you know what happens in bed? Sleep. Precious, beautiful sleep. Without it, bad things happen. Make it into a game by trying to make your bed completely in 30 seconds or less after getting up every morning.
Self care doesn’t have to be lonely. Taking time to write a thoughtful note just to tell someone you’re thinking of them makes everyone feel connected. Reminisce about a great memory or let them know you’re so glad that you met. It’ll make both their and your day, we promise!
Whether you have one, know one, or pass one at the dog park, we’re all about pet therapy. It’s been proven that interaction with fluffy buddies lowers the heart rate and blood pressure. Plus, what’s not to love about a cute, cuddly face that just wants to snuggle?
